20 Best Hard Rock & Heavy Metal Albums Of 2016

12. Anthrax - For All Kings

It only took them four-and-a-half years, but Anthrax finally mounted an amazing comeback in 2016 with For All Kings.

Seriously, four-and-a-half years. 1,628 days to be precise. Honestly, you could watch Usain Bolt run the Olympic 100m 14,606,355 times in the space between Anthrax albums.

Regardless, For All Kings remains undeniably great. Even though it's closer to sounding like Iron Maiden than '80s thrash, the record is full to the brim with powerhouse riffs and grandiose, soaring melodies from singer Joey Belladonna.

Not only has For All Kings proven that it is worth the near-five-year wait that came before it, but it is also threatening to surpass some of the albums of Anthrax's youth, with the slower pacing and bigger choruses perfectly fitting Belladonna's delivery while newcomer Jon Donais shines on some utterly awe-inspiring guitar solos.
