The Prodigy are often cited as creating the very best in electronic music, although if truth be told there are far better acts out there working away from the mainstream - in this sense, much of The Prodigy's music has a chart sensibility to it that widens its appeal just as it limits the potential for greatness. Yet while their debut album Experience was a fun foray into raving it up, and later albums flirted with punk (while giving Keith Flint something else to do other than prance around on stage), Music For The Jilted Generation was their greatest accomplishment. Here, the move away from what they called "kiddie rave" towards a more accomplished sound with a darker edge really paid off, and Jilted Generation retains its restless energy and drive to this day.
