Whereas The Prodigy's music has veered more towards the commercial since their magnum opus Music For The Jilted Generation, one act which can't be said to have compromised their integrity and search for new modes of expression is Autechre. Another of Warp Records' shining lights, Autechre have carved themselves a niche as the most progressive, often avante garde, music producers in the industry. Much of their later work is hugely experimental, and can seem daunting to the uninitiated on first - or even tenth - listen. LP5 is more initially coherent and offers a great introduction to their esoteric style, residing on the dividing line between their earlier techno/electro sounding work and the experimental albums which followed.
