20 Greatest Punk Albums Ever Made

17. The Undertones - The Undertones

As the first Irish band to appear on this list, The Undertones are a generally underrated band, not just in the general view of mainstream of music but within punk rock also.

The Undertones are commonly categorised as a one hit wonder due to the success of their timeless classic, 'Teenage Kicks', which still to this day is viewed as an anthem of youth culture. However, this perception of the band is completely untrue, as they released a catalogue of exceptional singles and records throughout their career.

Their debut self-titled record was released in 1979 and included great tracks such as 'Male Model', 'Jimmy Jimmy' and 'Here Comes the Summer'. This record and the band's second studio album, 'Hypnotised', are both undisputed punk classics. However, the band gradually became more mellow with their musical approach and by the time 1983's 'The Sin of Pride' came around, the band was mostly influenced by motown and even soul.
