https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVg2EJvvlF8 The man, the legend. John Lennon is a symbol of love, unity and peace; he is THE hippy. The Beatles favourite a leading figure of the 60s peace and love movement made some incredibly powerful (and quite serious) stuff as a solo artist. Behind the floppy locks and trademark circular glasses was an honest man who clearly wanted to leave his mark on a better society. In this beautiful track, Lennon was asking us to imagine a place where things that divide people, such as possessions, nationality and religion, cease to exist. Lennon felt that would be a much better world in which to live. Really, the beautiful melody of the song sugar coats what is otherwise an immensely powerful and true message. Trivia: British band Oasis used the song's piano introduction on their 1996 single, Don't Look Back In Anger.
