20 Most Underrated Classic Rock Songs Of All Time
19. Anything She Does - Genesis
The later period of Genesis has been both loved and reviled by different parts of the rock community. While some commend Phil Collins for filling the shoes of Peter Gabriel, there are others who would prefer to burn him at the stake for making the band a pop machine. On the other hand, not even the simpler Genesis could be perceived as normal.
As an album, Invisible Touch has gotten a bit of a sour reputation as the moment where the band completely sold out, but some of the album tracks say otherwise. On first glance, "Anything She Does" seems like a genuine love song about a man being hung up on a girl. However, Collins offers a bit of a dark twist on the tale by pointing out that this man is not having a relationship with anyone in particular, but instead lusting after a pin-up model that he stumbled across in a magazine.
All of a sudden, this charming little tune about young love turns into a tale of a lonely man trying to find his only shot at love in his fantasies. Even when Genesis was watering their sound down, the topics of their songs still had a certain element of shock to them.
