20 Most Underrated Classic Rock Songs Of All Time
14. Movin Out - Aerosmith
Aerosmith were one of the first American answers to the British Invasion acts. As opposed to being straight blues worshippers like the Yardbirds and Cream, the songwriting partnership of Steven Tyler and Joe Perry gave us songs infused with a genuine stomp and a healthy appreciation for funk and R&B. Even though Tyler and Perry's partnership is the band's signature nowadays, their beginnings were a different beast entirely.
For a majority of the band's first album, most of the tunes were composed solely by Tyler, who had been the most professional musician in the band at the time. Once the band were a few songs short of an entire record, Perry decided to offer up one of the riffs he had been kicking around. Written on a waterbed in the band's stomping grounds of Boston, "Movin Out" was the first song that the Toxic Twins composed together, with all of the band's attitude already firmly in place.
Complete with an unstoppable backbeat and bluesy bent, this song has everything you could ask for in early Aerosmith, including some of Tyler's first attempts at screaming on record. The band's sound would get refined on later albums, but this song is like witnessing the baby steps of musical giants.
