20 Most Underrated Hard Rock Songs Of All Time

11. Caravan - Rush

Rush really had nothing to prove to anyone by the time the 2010's rolled around. With more than a dozen records under their belt and a slew of prog rock classics, the band had pretty much cemented their legacy as one of the kings of the hard rock genre. But now wasn't the time to phone it in.

Though the band had tackled concept songs in the past, Clockwork Angels marked the first time they had tried a full concept record from front to back, with "Caravan" serving as the launchpad. Set up like a steampunk epic, this track sets the scene with bass chords that feel like a train pulling into a station. From there, fans are exposed to the hustle and bustle of the sonic environment before Alex Lifeson's chorus melody sends us into full flight.

The song features one of the best performances from drummer Neil Peart, but the real crowning moment is Geddy Lee's bass, which absolutely smokes the rest of the band across two interlude sections. It had been a long time since the band's glory years, but with "Caravan" leading the charge, Rush were ready to conquer the rock world for one last go around.
