20 Most Underrated Hard Rock Songs Of All Time
6. Too Fast For Love - Motley Crue
In the early 80's, Motley Crue were setting the precedent for a new kind of metal music. Right before the hair metal scene exploded, these guys were taking their hair-sprayed rock tunes to the Sunset Strip, where they cut their teeth as a raw hard rock act. Though the band would get a lot darker on their later releases, the title track of their debut record was much more abrasive than anyone could have imagined.
With a climbing lick that never lets up, "Too Fast For Love" is Motley Crue with the energy of a punk rock outfit. Vince Neil's growls are definitely reminiscent of someone like David Lee Roth, but the execution feels like it's coming more from the streets rather than the middle of an arena. Midway through the track, there's even a descending guitar line that is a direct rip from the Sex Pistols' classic "Holidays in the Sun."
Long before the wannabes started showing up and poppifying rock and roll, Motley Crue showed the world what the the Sunset Strip sounded like at ground level. It might not have been this heavy for much longer, but this song shows the innocence of the hair metal scene before it became an MTV staple.
