20 Most Underrated Hard Rock Songs Of All Time

14. The Nurse Who Loved Me - A Perfect Circle

Out of all the great bands of the 2000's, A Perfect Circle always surprised us by providing what we didn't know we needed. While Maynard James Keenan's passionate screams worked wonders in Tool, the combination of his intensity with songcrafter Billy Howerdel produced some of the most ethereal rock songs of the decade.

Then again, while songs like "Judith" were great slabs of hard rock, the real darkness would come in once the band started to tone things down. With all the mellow tracks that came out of the band's sophomore effort Thirteenth Step, "The Nurse Who Loved Me" is both the most calming and tortured that this band has ever sounded. Originally conceived as a track by the post grunge outfit Failure, APC's treatment of the song is a lot more demented.

The strung out nature of Keenan's vocal makes this desire for his pharmaceutical muse seem like a godsend coming from the void. As opposed to just hitting you over the head with thunderous chords, this song subtly lures you into its atmosphere before permanently closing the door on your sanity. Even if the music was a bit more downtempo, A Perfect Circle's ability to put you on edge was still firmly intact.
