20 Most Underrated Nu-Metal Anthems
5. Fear Factory – Damaged
When Fear Factory adopted a more nu-metal-esque sound palette for their 2001 LP Digimortal, many bemoaned the move as being an attempt at jumping on the commercial bandwagon. However, one listen of the scintillating barnburner ‘Damaged,’ and you’ll quickly learn that this is the same ear-shattering industrial group that metal fans have come to know and love.
Electronica has always been a part of the Fear Factory sound, but on ‘Damaged,’ they almost destroy the circuitry with some of their hard-edged, speaker shaking, synth lines. And when combined with a brutalizing low end riff, as well as some belting stick work, the track becomes an ungodly overloading of the senses – one that you’ll want to absorb again and again.
‘Damaged’ simply rips from the first explosive moment to the last. This one should have been a single, and it should have been absolutely huge.
