20 Punk Rock Albums Turning 20 In 2020
15. Gob - The World According To Gob
You can argue over which is the best album from Canadian rockers Gob however The World According to Gob is empirically their most successful. It was certified gold in the band's home country and resulted in some much deserved recognition for a group who had been working hard for the better part of a decade.
Named as an allusion to the John Irving novel "The World According to Garp" the CD is comprised of 14 songs and a secret track for those patient enough to find it. Gob didn't reinvent the wheel with their third offering, in fact the similarities to their first two are uncanny.
This means that if you are a fan of the fans early work then you're guaranteed to enjoy this later offering, whereas it has very little to offer for those who didn't enjoy the first pair.
At it's very core, The World According to Gob is a well made full length that refuses to take itself too seriously. The guts of this record are comprised of fun and upbeat vibes that epitomize what early 2000s pop punk was all about.
