20 Punk Rock Albums Turning 20 In 2020

The Offspring were already enjoying well deserved mainstream acclaim by the release of their sixth Studio album. They were doing so well in fact that they chose not to sweat the record sales and came out in support of peer to peer sharing.

Originally the Garden Grove natives made plans to drop their new record on their website for the world to hear before it's official release. These plans were thwarted by Columbia Records who threatened to sue if the album was not put out strictly as a physical copy.

Record label controversy did not hurt the sales however and the group watched Conspiracy of One peak at number nine on the US Billboard album chart after selling 125,000 copies in the week following it's November release. This was also the final record that was created with the band's longest tenured drummer Ron Welty, who departed from the band in 2003 in order to focus on a new project called Steady Ground.

While it couldn't quite followed up on the mega success achieved by Smash or Americana, Conspiracy of One gave the world a number of hidden gems and in 2007 was certified 2x Platinum.
