20 Things You Didn't Know About Aerosmith

14. Revolution X

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith was not the band's first involvement in the world of video games. In 1994, Midway released an arcade rail shooter called Revolution X. The entire premise involved the band's kidnap by mercenaries, and the player's goal is to rescue them through acts of violence accompanied by a hard rock soundtrack.

As far as licensed games go, it is more towards the surreal end of the spectrum than, say, Tony Hawk or Tom Clancy games. The band recorded soundbites and videos of themselves, with Steven Tyler quipping memorable motivational lines like "remember, music is a weapon!" It makes you wonder whether this whole idea came from one of their drug-induced reveries.

The arcade shooter was ported to home consoles, but was critically panned. The negative feedback reportedly resulted in a cancelled sequel featuring Public Enemy. What a crying shame.

I'm perfectly sane, or so the voices tell me. British, sarcastic, president of the European Slinky Association, have a tendency to lie when listing things about myself. 100% guilty of being a massive geek obsessed with Doctor Who, Harry Potter and video games. If you can't find me on the internet, I'm probably locked in a room playing Spyro the Dragon on my old PlayStation, or blowing everything to smithereens with a concrete donkey on Worms: Armageddon.
