21 Best Punk Albums Of The 21st Century
5. The Distillers - Sing Sing Death House
On the topic of the mid-early 2000s being a boom period for American punk, we now turned our attention to 'Sing Sing Death House' by The Distillers. Fronted by Australian-born vocalist Brody Dalle, the band came together in 1998 and released three albums in as many years from 2000 onwards. As we see so commonly in punk though, the flame that burns twice as bright burns for half as long.
The Distiller's debut album was well received, but their second record was a the real turning point in their careers. Featuring songs as 'City of Angels', 'Sick of it All' and 'The Young Crazed Peeling', the record proved to be a fantastic proving ground which led to their final album, 'Coral Fang', in 2003.
Unfortunately, the band would dissolve in 2006 and they would not re-emerge in 2018. In the meantime though, members Brody Dalle and Tony Bradley formed Spinnerette in 2007, who shared the same fate as The Distillers in 2010. Despite reforming in 2018, 'Coral Fang' remains their most recent record, but the group have been hinting at the arrival of new material in recent times.
