21 Best Punk Albums Of The 21st Century
16. Jamie Lenman - Muscle Memory
Originally the vocalist in cult classic British punk trio Reuben (remember that name for later), Jamie Lenman has become a staple figure in the UK's alternative scene in recent years. Following Reuben announcing a hiatus which continues to this day in 2008, vocalist Jamie Lenman stepped back from music to focus on other personal ventures such as illustrating.
After five years of absence from the music scene, Lenman made a dramatic comeback in 2013 with his debut solo record, 'Muscle Memory'. Released as a double album, this record is a contrasting tale of two polar opposite musical universes. The second disc of this release centres around jazz and folk focused songs, while the prior disc is jammed packed with explosive punk rock.
'Muscle Memory' is a true sentiment to the breadth and variety Lenman is able to achieve, as he effortlessly transitions from the facemelting fury of 'One of My Eyes is a Clock' into much mellower measures in 'A Quiet Understanding'. Other key songs from this album include 'A Plague on Both Your Houses', 'Fizzy Blood' and 'Pretty Please'.
