21 Biggest Metal Riffs Of All Time

17. Alter Bridge - Isolation

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Pnlm1Ky_sA From small clubs to arenas... to small clubs and arenas all over again, the guys from Creed (minus legendary crooner Scott Stapp) parted ways with the religious-lyric-loving stage-crawler and instead enlisted the superheroic talents of Myles "Yeah I played with Led Zeppelin, what?" Kennedy back in 2004; the combination of which has proven to ignite the likes of guitarist Mark Tremonti's true calling i.e. shredding his sack off. Starting with some mighty-ferocious chords that effortlessly slide around the neck it remains one of the band's most aggressive intros in their entire discography, only matched on last year's Fortress by the pummelling Bleed It Dry or the severely-underrated Peace is Broken. With an extremely short and incredibly tight solo from Myles it acted as a gateway to what would become fully-fledged twin-lead guitar-duels on the live tours, slowly breaking Kennedy out of his shell and showing that the guitar teacher from Spokane, Washington could rally the likes of Wembley Stadium with ease. Whilst album AB III may be regarded as the band's worst by many of the fans due to its overall conceptual nature and lack of stadium-sized tunes, it was breakaway lead single Isolation that topped the mainstream rock radio charts in America for weeks on end, proving the band could write a riff that simultaneously ticked the boxes of hard rock and metal, delivering a chorus vocal hook that would ensnare thousands more fans for the upcoming journey.
