17. Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010)
Notable Tracks: Power, All of the Lights, Monster, Hell of a Life I know, I know, some of you are saying to your screens (which is kind of strange, really) "uh, dude...Kanye? Really?" Well, a couple of years ago, I would have been that very same strange person speaking to his computer. However, in a fairly recent attempt to broaden my musical interests and knowledge, I gave this particular album a chance. Needless to say (although I'm going to say it anyway), I am entirely pleased. I wanted so badly to construct a list like this without the seemingly obligatory addition of Kanye, but I simply cannot forgo recognizing this album as a phenomenal album for the rap genre. In a society where the "best" metal drummer is recognized as none other than the drummer of the abominable Five Finger Death Punch, and the "best" song award is typically given to a band or artist with about as much talent as toe fungus, Kanye West's young album deserves a fair chance. Is he egomaniacal? Yes. Solipsistic? You bet! But does his album display his talents as an artist in an incessantly waning industry? Absolutely.
