22. Dr. Dre - The Chronic 2001
Notable Tracks: The Watcher, Still D.R.E., Forgot About Dre, Murder Ink And here we are, ladies and gentlemen, the first hip-hop album in this list. I'll be honest with you, my personal music selection is quite polarizing, but there are a few select rap albums that definitely deserve recognition and inclusion on this type of list. I'd be lying if I told you I understood the hip-hop culture, but one thing I can recognize is respectable lyricism, fantastic beats, and stimulating poeticism. After all, wasn't rap supposed to engage the listener with 3-5 minute meaningful anecdotes? 92% of modern rap (hyperbolic stat, but probably not that far from the truth) forces people to listen to repetitive lyrics that really aren't catchy in the first place, abject storytelling, misuse of the English language, and an ignominious message for overly impressionable listeners. Keeping these facts in mind, an album like this deserves to be on this list. If I can do anything for you, I'd like to diversify and enhance your respect for music that really deserves to be recognized. If hip-hop is your preferred genre, then look no further than this album. It's entertaining, interesting, and raw talent on display, Can you say the same about most of the rap music thumping through your speakers?
