8. Tender
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-T8LMZhz6FQ It's impossible to look back at the 2009 return and not think of 'Tender'. The ultimate reunification song for the band, the song to mend any broken heart, and an anthem as blissful and brilliant as Glastonbury will ever have. It's a song that sits alongside 'Hallelujah', 'Yesterday', 'All My Life' or 'The Sound of Silence'; it sounds like it's built from chords that don't exist anymore, and that the lyrics must've been pinched from somewhere, they're that familiar. There are songs that sound like they're from another era, and there are songs, like these, that sound like they've never needed any tweaking at all: 'Tender' sounds like it was sung first time. And a lot of the time it's silly to build songs up with exacerbating hyperbole, but 'Tender' has meant so much to so many Blur fans. And it's only ever meant one thing: love really is the greatest thing.
