25 Best Metal Albums Of The Decade

17. Sleep - The Sciences (2018)

Stoner metal titans Sleep recently announced the band would be going on, ahem, "hypersleep," from 1 January 2020, sending guitarist Matt Pike back to High On Fire, Al Cisneros to OM, and Jason Roeder to Neurosis.

A shame, as their 2018 comeback album The Sciences was a more-than-worthy entry in a discography containing two stone-cold classics in Holy Mountain and Dopesmoker/Jersusalem.

Featuring six tracks of drugged-out heavy riffing, The Sciences is Sleep through and through. It's a rumbling, doom-laden trip through the cosmos that doesn't reinvent the wheel, but satiates every reasonable Sleep fan's desire, with riffs like those on "Marijuanaut's Theme" guaranteed to shatter your stoned psyche.
