25 Best Thom Yorke Songs

14. Codex

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJLqMK31m4Y Artist: RadioheadAlbum: 'The King of Limbs'Year: 2011 So many of Radiohead's songs are halved between tranquillity and a surge of hot-blooded emotion, and usually it's used to heartrending effect. Not to get too emotional on you, but it's the way we cry as human beings; holding back tears before opening floodgates. A pretty little coda often wraps things up, and that's like the cat coming to sit on your lap. 'Codex' is perhaps the most content state that Yorke has ever been in, musically. "No one gets hurt" anymore: this is a weekend break, by a great big lake where dragonflies float on the surface. Soft brass melts through the balmy chords, and Thom serenades like he never has done before. It's something that's always been around the corner, and it's well worth waiting for: a lovely antidote the more downbeat ballads in the band's discography.
