25 Greatest Hip-Hop Albums Of The Last Decade

16. Vince Staples - FM!

Despite being part of a new generation of west coast rappers, Vince Staples doesn't have stereotypical gangster rap discography. Staples is just too good of an artist to be pigeonholed into that specific area of hip-hop and we've seen that with each of his albums, especially on his fourth album, FM!.

Although it's his shortest album, at just over 22 minutes, FM! packs the sort of punch that will make you want to relisten to it a good few times over. Using the theme of a radio station, Staple's songs are broken up by hilarious skits that wouldn't look out of place as a Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas station.

As always, Staples' beat selection is leftfield, but brilliant. For an artist so young to be so cognizant of how unique his voice and how the music he's rapping over can affect how he sounds as a rapper. Songs like "Tweakin'" and "Feeling Like Summer" have a nightmarish sound to them, but it balances out the Staples' high-pitched voice.

Staples had already shown via his other albums that he was different from his peers in the rap world, but FM! showcased exactly how far ahead he is of everyone else.
