25 Greatest Hip-Hop Albums Of The Last Decade

20. Rapsody - Laila's Wisdom

In a male-dominated genre like hip-hop, it's a sad truth that female MC's don't usually get the true credit they deserve. It's made it difficult for aspiring female rappers to truly break out from the underground. Luckily for us, Rapsody is bucking that trend, especially after her exceptional 2017 effort, Laila's Wisdom.

Even during her Kooley High days, Rapsody has always been an extremely talented rapper. She's the type of MC who will say something so witty that you need to look it up the lyrics to confirm all the double entendres and minute details in her verse. However, her ability to combine her lyrical skills with the actual craft of making a song has been honed to perfection by herself and 9th Wonder.

Less confident rappers wouldn't dream of featuring Black Thought, Busta Rhymes or Kendrick Lamar in fear of being shown up by them. Rapsody doesn't share that weakness, as she goes bar-for-bar with anyone willing to rhyme on a beat with her. If rapping is a sport, then she proves that she can hang with the very best in the game and even outshine them on this album.

After listening to this album, it's quite clear that Rapsody is the uncrowned queen of hip-hop and if she isn't given her due respect soon, she's going to end up snatching that crown from whichever imposter currently sits on the throne.
