As explained already, many young grime producers are exploring the potential for the genre to move away from its reliance on MCs by creating instrumental tracks that stand out on their own. Although Mr. Mitch is the producer that has been selected for this list, it would be just as justifiable to include any musician from the likes of Murlo, Rabit, Filter Dread, Shriekin, Acre or Darq E Freaker, or from labels such as Oil Gang and Glacial Sound... Each of whom has a unique and experimental take on the grime template. Mr. Mitch grabs the headline here because of how excellent his EP is. It is sparse (though not as minimal as Logos' Cold Mission) but stunningly melodic in its style. Moving away from the cold sounds of Wiley's Eski productions, Mr. Mitch (and others like him) are fusing the glossy textures of artists like Kuedo with the angular rhythms of the grime artists that preceded them. These are exciting times for grime, not least because of the wealth of genuinely weird producers expanding the genre's template.
