We've all been there...right? You meet a hipster girl. She likes how awkward and funny you are, and you like how she likes how awkward and funny you are. You even see a movie like Drive together and are so distracted by her grace that you miss the astute observations of the nature of violence, as well as Ryan Gosling's Oscar-Worthy performance. You feel great about her, and poorly about Drive (seriously, give it another shot by yourself, it's a fantastic movie). It's a good thing, but unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, especially things that make us extraordinarily happy. Maybe she gave you the "It's not you it's me" treatment (but I invented the "It's not you it's me treatment!"). Maybe she gave you the "I'm sort of involved with someone" treatment. Maybe she gave you the "Sorry, you just aren't that attractive" treatment. Either way, you're on a one way track to mixing vodka with Teavana, breaking out a pack of American Spirits, and eating your feelings with the help of locally grown jam and real New York bagels, even if you live in Jersey. Luckily, you don't have to grieve alone. You still have that turntable and countless records who will hand you tissues as you cry yourself to sleep. Here is a list of five records that I found helpful going through break-ups/general loneliness of my own, making this a "Break-ups through the years" post so to say.
