3. Tina Weymouth
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yX6FsTIq6ls One of the most important female musicians, Tina Weymouth helped pave the way for every other artist on this list. As the bassist for Talking Heads she is a crucial part of rock history, and one of the greatest female bass players ever. Her musical style, a unique combination of minimalist art-punk and more danceable, funk spired rhythm, was the sheer foundation of the Talking Heads sound. She provided the perfect backdrop for David Byrne's erratic lyrics and vocal delivery. Her influence can be heard everywhere from alternative rock to punk to dance music. After the band was unable to find a bass player, drummer Chris Frantz asked Tina, whom he was dating, to learn the bass. Tina learned how to play by listening to Suzi Quatro records and eventually joined. Tina and Chris would eventually marry, and go on to form their own group, Tom Tom Club. Key Tracks: 1. Psycho Killer 2. Road To Nowhere 3. This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)
