4. D'Arcy Wretzky
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aeETEoNfOg One of the biggest, most successful bands of the '90s, Smashing Pumpkins has had many bass players over the years. The original, and most significant, bassist was D'Arcy Wretzky. A founding member, D'Arcy played on the bands first five records, including the enormously popular Siamese Dream, and the highly successful Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness. D'Arcy was the perfect bass player for Smashing Pumpkins, alternating from heavy rock, to psychedelia, to whispered folk songs, keeping pace with Billy Corgan and James Iha every step of the way. She also often provided some beautiful backing vocals live and on a number of studio recordings. After the success of Mellon Collie, D'Arcy struggled with drug problems and possible depression. In 1999 she eventually left the band to pursue an acting career. Soon after leaving she was arrested for possession of crack cocaine. Key Tracks: 1. 1979 2. Tonight, Tonight 3. Cherub Rock
