As the lead singer of Blind Melon, Hoon achieved a certain amount of success with the bands debut album that contained the hits Tones of Home and No Rain. Hoon was also notable for appearing on multiple tracks on Guns N Roses Use Your Illusion albums on tracks like Dont Cry.
