5 Greatest Bounceback Albums
1. Foo Fighters - Self Titled
Dave Grohl was on top of the world at the start of the 90's, but it was gone in an instant. After three years of drumming in Nirvana, the grunge icons were quickly silenced when frontman Kurt Cobain committed suicide in 1994. After the mourning period, Grohl just ran, going across the world trying to distance himself from playing music.
Many people would understand if Grohl never wanted to play music again. Instead, Grohl used music as his fuel. As a sort of musical catharsis, Grohl began recording some of the songs that he had written during his time in Nirvana in secret. Once the record was finished, Grohl christened the tape Foo Fighters because he didn't want his name recognition to carry the record.
For many alt-rock fans who discovered it, this album served as a guide away from the dour sadness of grunge and towards something different. The songs still had that alt-rock punch, but it was never afraid to incorporate a certain playfulness while having an attention to melody that was impossible to resist. By releasing some of his demons, Grohl was able to help many fans out of their own dark worlds and into the light.
