5 Iconic Rock Bands Currently Touring Without Their Original Frontman
2. Journey
28 years ago Journey released their 7th studio album, Escape. Opinions vary on the overall quality of the record but it undeniably produced a trio of legendary hits. Escape put forth "Who's Crying Now", "Open Arms" and the legendary "Don't Stop Believing", and gave the group the longevity to keep touring to this day.
Time has taken a toll on the group. The only two remaining members of the original iteration are Neal Schon (lead guitarist) and Ross Valory (bass).
The most notable loss for the group came in the form of singer Steve Perry, who left in 1987 to pursue a solo career. After his first two solo records flopped, Perry would rejoin the band in 1994. He was ousted four years later due to the group being unwilling to wait for Perry to recover from hip surgery.
The band continued to release records with a revolving cast of musicians until as recently as 2011 and have toured with singer Arnel Pineda since 2007. At the time of writing Journey is playing a tour of Northeastern America in a run up to a multi date residency at Caesars Palace.
