5 Iconic Rock Bands Currently Touring Without Their Original Frontman

1. Queen

There was nothing bigger in the late 70s to early 80s than British Rock and no bigger band during this movement than Queen. Fusing progressive rock with heavy metal the London born faction dominated the music scene. The group had an embarrassment of talent to work with and at the helm was potential greatest vocalist of all time Freddie Mercury.

All good things must end however and in 1988 Queen's success hit a tragic stop after Mercury was forced to quit his musical career due to declining health. The London frontman had been diagnosed with AIDS a year prior and would continue to worsen until his eventual passing in 1991.

Queen spent most of the 90s on hiatus with a few one off shows and a couple of new releases. In 2004 the band began touring again with Bad Company and Free vocalist Paul Rodgers. The band advertised shows as Queen+Paul Rodgers in an effort to emphasize that the legendary Mercury would never truly be replaced, only stood in for.

Queen have spent the last 15 years touring the world with a few various stand ins and can currently be seen live with American Idol mega star Adam Lambert.
