1. John Lennon (The Beatles)
Of course no one wanted the Beatles to break up but we were at least given some fantastic music from them individually in the aftermath - Paul McCartney has obviously had a great solo career too but I decided to only add one Beatle to the list. A number of classics were penned by John Lennon in his solo career. And there is none bigger than "Imagine" - it's completely quintessential. The music legend's solo albums did well and received positive reviews across the board and he also recorded albums with his wife, Yoko Ono which included a Christmas classic - "Happy Christmas (War is Over)". It's sad to think about all the great music we missed out on due to Lennon's untimely death but on the other hand he left us with an abundance of amazing records. Song to listen to: Instant Karma
