Because downloads involve a lot of menus and faceless interaction, those who download dont even get round to seeing the album/single artwork adorning the music. Part of the fun of LPs is that even if you dont play the record, you can just sit there marvelling at how it actually looks on your shelf. Album covers such as Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, Exile on Main St. and Physical Graffiti were designed with this in mind - the huge, canvas-like set-ups of an LP cover ensure youre getting bang for your buck. When buying an LP, youre not just buying music, youre buying art (in more ways than one). If youre lucky, you may even buy an LP thats had as much effort put into the music as the art itself. In cases such as Led Zeppelin III, you can even go on an adventure with the artwork hunting out the hidden words scribbled into the spine as you take in everything else about the recording.
