Bloc Party roared onto the scene in the mid-2000s and quickly restored a touch of urgency and raw emotion to the indie rock genre. Silent Alarm is a swirling mass of jagged guitar riffs, rapid-fire drums, and Kele Okereke's distinctive wounded vocals. The album tackles a variety of topics; 'Helicopter' rages against political injustice of the Bush-era, while 'This Modern Love' is a heartbreakingly innocent take on the classic topic of relationship troubles.
