50 Definitive Beastie Boys Songs

44. Hey Ladies

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Naf5uJYGoiU So many samples and references, so little time. The album Paul's Boutique, is somewhat infamous for the fact that it would be impossible to make in this day and age due to all of its samples. While they wanted to show their mature side on their second LP, "Hey Ladies" retains the playfulness of Licensed to Ill with a whole new sonic attack and more obscure references. The music video is also amazing. Stand out line: "She's got a gold tooth, you know she's hardcore/She'll show you a good time, then she'll show you the door"

43. Hold It Now, Hit It

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oB0NM6reiRE This one is just an awesome straight up old school rap song. The main beat is simple but accompanied by all kinds of percussion, whistles and scratches. It's mainly the Beasties rapping for three minutes about hanging out together while drinking and getting girls. Sure, the song is pretty immature but there is no denying how fun it is. Stand out line: "Hip-hoppin' and body rockin', doin' the do/Beer drinking, breath stinking, sniffing glue"

42. The Masestro

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ieXzX_JHtg This song off 1992's Check Your Head is a raucous mix of distorted funk, old school hip hop and vicious rhymes. The Beastie's instruments, with the help of Money Mark, and some added scratches, create the type of bad ass track that is rarely heard today. The ridiculous lyrics are about Ad-Rock and Mike D bragging about being the man, or in this case, "The Maestro". Columbo and Barnaby Jones shout outs ensue. Stand out line: "See, this ain't America's Most Wanted, this is America's Most Mackin'/ That's right, all the people are callin' my pit, when I get on there is no stoppin'"
