7 Amazing Songs The Biggest Bands Never Play

6. Alter Bridge - In Loving Memory

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcQ3iegpZTc Oh boy. I LOVE this band. Easily the best rock band on the planet right now, Alter Bridge have been rising in profile since their debut record in 2004, thrilling crowds across the world, having their song Metalingus as the entrance theme for the second greatest wrestler ever; Edge, and generally kicking ass in the metal community. I'm a sucker for a huge chorus, and Alter Bridge never fail to deliver in that department. With Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti, probably the best vocalist/guitarist duo on the planet, Alter Bridge are known for their huge soaring vocals and awesome crunching downtuned guitar riffs, with insane solos to boot. Their debut album One Day Remains, is a fairly ok album with a couple of standout tracks. Metalingus, Broken Wings, Watch Your Words and Find The Real all spring to mind. However, it's with the gorgeous ballad In Loving Memory that I really fell for this band. You only have to look at the comments on the Youtube video, which is full of people paying their respects, and talking about how much they missed loved ones to know this song is emotional. After all, the song is penned by Mark Tremonti about the death of his mother. In Loving Memory starts and continues all the way through to the first chorus with just guitar and vocals, Myles Kennedy's beautiful voice softly delivering truly heartbreaking imagery. "Thanks for all you've done/I've missed you for so long/I can't believe you're gone/You still live in me/I feel you in the wind/You guide me constantly". These opening lyrics hit hard. Alter Bridge are on their fourth record, and already have enough cracking songs to fill an arena set list. The most probable reason why this song is so often omitted is because they have a more recent, acoustic ballad "Watch Over You" off the Blackbird album. Which is also beautiful.
