There's nothing quite like hiding in plain site... or so the saying goes. Yet it's the basis for another crazy conspiracy theory about David Bowie, namely that his character Ziggy Stardust was merely a front for the truth: that he's actually, genuinely an extra-terrestrial. It's all right in front of us, apparently. Since the beginning of his career, Bowie has made repeated references to the life beyond Earth: Space Oddity, Starman, The Man Who Fell To Earth, Hallo Spaceboy, Life On Mars?, Loving The Alien... all Bowie songs, and all hinting at his true origin (and that's just naming a few). The belief is that Bowie attempted to be so overt with his references to space and alien life that it would make any accusation seem completely ludicrous, since a real alien would never make their true identity so blatantly obvious. On top of that, Bowie's role in the film The Man Who Fell To Earth consists of him playing an alien that lands on Earth, finds great success and then tries to communicate with his home planet via radio...sound familiar?
