7 Heavy Metal Songs About Vicious Personal Feuds
1. Queen - Death On Two Legs (Dedicated To...)
Continuing a trend of the unexpected, one might not assume that the musicians who penned tunes like “You’re My Best Friend” and “Somebody To Love” would have a song of severe resentment in their catalog.
However, singer Freddie Mercury’s feelings toward former manager Norman Sheffield were vehemently displayed in the opening minutes of what many consider to be Queen’s magnum opus, A Night at the Opera.
On “Death on Two Legs,” refers to Sheffield as a slew of endearing things, including, but not limited to, “misguided mule,” “big-talking small fry,” “hot air balloon,” “overgrown school boy” and “king of the sleaze” before going as far as to suggest that the man should consider suicide.
Awfully cold-blooded for the man who would go on to write a love letter to his bicycle a few years later and unsurprisingly, the band were sued for defamation not long after the song's release, though the two parties settled out of court.
