7 Single Songs That Almost Make Their Albums Worth The Cost
3. Nirvana - You Know You’re Right
Album: Nirvana
While I did say that I would fight anyone regarding the superiority of Alice in Chains in the Grunge era, I am more than willing to acknowledge the accomplishments and influence of the more highly-regarded Nirvana.
That being said, the buzz surrounding the surfacing and potential release of You Know You’re Right, an unreleased song recorded three months before singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain took his own life, was expectedly gargantuan. However, its release was delayed by a legal battle between Nirvana’s surviving band members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic and Cobain’s wife Courtney Love where the song in question was among the focal points.
In the aftermath of the case, You Know You’re Right was released on the 2002 Nirvana compilation, which otherwise boasted a safe selection of 13 songs, leaving over 30 minutes of unused space. This one was better suited for the With the Lights Out box set like Grohl and Novoselic had originally intended and not on an obvious cash-in.
