7 Single Songs That Almost Make Their Albums Worth The Cost

1. Queen - Love Kills

Album: Queen Forever

While this 18-track compilation (or 36-track, depending on which one you choose to purchase) boasts a previously incomplete song from the sessions for their 1984 album The Works and one of three “lost” duets between Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson, it is Queen’s reworking of Mercury’s first solo single Love Kills that makes this release appealing.

The original version was a heavily synthesized product of its time and, despite having charting success in a handful of countries worldwide, was not universally well-received. The ballad version found here, which had also been intended for The Works, more appropriately suits the subject matter and Freddie’s performance.

Had this been released when intended, it would have definitely ranked high among the best of Queen’s post-1980 catalog.
