5. Evanescence Are Making A Comeback
Even if you don't really know much about Evanescence the American rock band fronted by singer Amy Lee you'll definitely have heard their hit single Bring Me To Life from the album Fallen. The song released in 2003 and was one of the most popular rock/nu metal tracks of that time, a rare example of a genre song breaking firmly into mainstream radio. After that, the band released two more studio albums one in 2006 titled The Open Door and one in 2011 titled Evanescence. Since then, nothing. It's been almost five years since the band's last release, with the situation being muddied by the fact that Wind-up Records sold Evanescence and their master recordings to a completely different label, Bicycle Music Company. What followed was a bunch of messy legal proceedings, as Amy Lee filed a lawsuit against Wind-up Records seeking one and a half million dollars in unpaid royalties. In 2014, then, Lee tweeted that Evanescence no longer had a record label, but were an independent band. For a while rumours have been circulating that the group has been gearing up for a comeback. Now that various legal complications are out of the way, the band has been able to work on new material and plan a new album. Rumours of new material began just before the band announced their intention to play Tokyo's Ozzfest, with new shows also being played in America during the run-up, so signs are good. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Lee revealed her intention to look for more dates for Evanescence, and that she was in the process of writing new music. Come on, Evanescence. It's been so long. Wake us up inside once more.
