3. Coldplay Are Splitting Up
Okay, so maybe the premise of this one is a little harsh (the only thing more annoying than Coldplay are people who are super vocal about their hatred of Coldplay) but it's an interesting rumour nevertheless. Following the release of 2015's A Head Full Of Dreams, there have been substantial rumours that the band is splitting up after finishing the supporting tour. For a start, the band themselves have toyed with the idea of it being the end. In a 2014 interview, front-man Chris Martin compared the album to Harry Potter (bizarrely) and basically said because it's their seventh release it's like the last Harry Potter book. Yeah, makes sense. The A Head Full Of Dreams Tour is set to last throughout 2016, after which various sources have reported the band will split up, as they feel they have fulfilled their purpose as a collective. Martin is reported to have described the album as the completion of something and wishes to pursue other musical aspirations. For the record, Coldplay are an entirely serviceable rock band, but there's no doubt such a rumour would constitute as incredible to many people, and something that desperately needs to come true.
