8 Biggest 2016 Music Rumours That Need To Come True
2. Rihanna's New Album Will Be A Radical Reinvention
At present, Rihanna is set to embark on a world tour in Februrary 2016 in support of her new album Anti...which isn't even out yet. In fact, nobody has any idea when it's coming out. Despite the fact that Rihanna announced in November 2014 that the album would be launching very soon, it still has yet to drop. The reason? If rumours are to be believed (and the rumours are fairly convincing) the album will be a radical reinvention for the pop singer, a step away from her extremely commercial sound. Despite the fact that two fairly radio friendly singles have dropped (FourFiveSeconds featuring Kanye West and Paul McCartney and Bitch Better Have My Money) it's believed these are merely meant to tide fans over. Besides, radio singles are designed to maximize exposure. For a start, the album is being executive produced by Kanye West, who in recent years has himself radically reinvented his music, latching on to a much darker, more experimental and less commercially friendly sound through Yeezus. On top of that, the album is being worked on extensively, with the singer even cancelling a performance at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in order to keep working. It's no secret that Rihanna is marketing the release as a much more arty project than her previous albums. In October 2015, for example, the singer held a private viewing of the album artwork in a Los Angeles art gallery, encouraging viewers to wear red blindfolds. On top of that, the physical album also features extensive use of Braille. Regardless of how pretentious it all is, the singer is definitely up to something completely different than her previous work.
