8 British Artists You Really Should Listen To

2. Scroobius Pip

spipFavourite track: Letter From God To Man Whether he is working with his DJ friend Dan Le Sac or releasing solo work, Scroobius Pip always sets out to prove one thing - Hip-Hop is to be respected, not feared. A man who believes in the power of words, Scroobius Pip started as a spoken word performer before joining forces with Dan Le Sac to put music to his particular style of off beat poetry. Their brand of hip-hop proved that not all rap had to be performed by idiots that believed their choice of music would lead to, as Pip himself puts it, "guns, bitches and bling." (from Thou Shalt Always Kill) With song topics ranging from classic set-ups such as love at first sight (The Beat That My Heart Skipped) to the dark, murderous side of celebrities (The Struggle), Mr Pip is a man who looks to educate just as much as he wants to entertain. Watch the video below for proof. Song to get you started: Get Better

In my free time, I can usually be found in my darkened living room, playing video games or watching movies. I tend to work a lot of night shifts so my out-of-whack body clock is built for such hobbies. Feel free to drop me a tweet at @callummcewan.
