8 Famous Musicians Who Mysteriously Disappeared And Were Never Seen Again

4. Scott Smith

Winnipeg, Manitoba's Scott Smith was a bassist for the band Loverboy, the '80s rock group that produced hits like 'Working for the Weekend' and 'Lovin' Every Minute of It.' He even co-wrote one of the bands hit songs, 'Lucky One.'

In November 2000, the bassist and a group of friends were sailing from Vancouver, British Columbia to Mexico. However, as they neared San Francisco's Ocean Beach, tragedy struck. A massive twenty-five-foot wave struck the boat and swept Smith overboard.

The others traveling with him (who managed to stay on board) couldn't locate their colleague, so they immediately contacted the coast guard.

Within 30 minutes several boats and helicopters arrived on the scene. The vehicles searched a 133-square mile radius around where the accident had occurred, but came up empty. The following day, a combination of fog and large waves hampered the rescue efforts.

Smith's family would go on to hire a private search team, but sadly there was no sign of talented bassist . He would later be pronounced missing presumed dead, lost at sea.
