Noh-Varr is a Marvel character who has bounced around various Marvel comic titles over the past few years. Noh-Varr is described as a €œsort of an alien hipster. The way some kids are obsessed with Japan, he's obsessed with Earth.€ The new take on Marvel Boy (Who is also known as Captain Marvel and Protector at various points in time) is an alternate-universe Kree with insect DNA enhancements. His powers include the basics of super speed, strength, endurance and various other things that would make him good at high school gym class. In addition to this, he can consume any substance including poisonous, rotten or non-food items and convert it to energy, and he has extreme contortion abilities from being triple-jointed. Weirdest of all, his saliva is infectious and makes you trip out.

Like David in Prometheus, Noh-Varr was inspired mainly by the protagonist in Bowie€™s movie The Man Who Fell to Earth. When speaking of the influence for the character, writer Kieron Gillen rightly puts it, "Now Bowie's back too. On any scale I care about, Bowie is a superhero."

Bowie€™s other persona, Ziggy Stardust, was also used as inspiration for the character€™s otherworldly, easy sexuality. Noh-Varr will next be seen in the new, ultra-diverse Young Avengers series which is probably a good fit for him.
