8 Great Albums That Are Incredibly Top Heavy With Their Best Songs

6. Dr Dre - 2001

There is a good reason fans clamor for Dr. Dre to release albums more than once every 10-15 years, and that's because when he does release something it's damn good.

2001 (which was released in 1999) showed everyone Dre was an unrivaled producer. The first half of the album contains some insane sample work, and the beats that accompany them are delightfully addictive. As with most rap albums, the tracklist is huge, and it's pretty much impossible to find one that isn't inconsistent in quality.

To put things in perspective, however, the first half of this album contains the huge hits 'Still Dre', 'What's the difference', 'The Next Episode' and 'Forgot About Dre'. Aside from the now incredibly dated and occasionally offensive lyrics, you are hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn't love the tightest beats in the business at the time found here.

Once track 11 passes though, you're left with some decent listens but aside from the inspired 'Murder Ink' which samples the Halloween theme tune, there isn't another song that would trouble the charts.

The first half contains some of the staples of Hip-hop from the last generation, but after 'The Next Episode' passes nothing highly memorable really sticks out.
