8 Incredible Songs That Scarily Predicted The Future

3. Wilco Predicted 9/11 On An Album That Was Supposed To Be Released on 9/11

Wilco, the Chicago-based alt-rock band formed in 1994, had released three albums before 2001's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Despite this, Reprise Records refused to release the album, as they didn't believe the material was strong enough. The president of Reprise €“ who had been a long-time supporter of the band €“ was replaced shortly before the album was due to drop, placing the A&R representative David Kahne in charge of the decision as to whether or not it would ever see the light of day. In the end, the band managed to buy themselves out from the label (and the album turned out to be a critical and commercial success). Eerily, the song Jesus, Etc. features lyrics that sound bizarrely descriptive of a violent terrorist attack. Specifically, €œTall buildings shake, voices escape singing sad, sad songs. Voices whine, skyscrapers are scraping together. Your voice is smoking€. This may seem unremarkable, but before the band was shot down by Reprise, the album was scheduled to release on the eleventh of September, the day of the al-Qaeda terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.
