8 Music Artists You Wrongly Thought Were One-Hit Wonders

2. The Calling - Wherever You Will Go

At one point or another, there's probably a good chance you'll have channelled the lead singer of The Calling and sung the chorus or opening lyrics to Wherever You Will Go in that instantly-recognisable deep, husky voice.

The rock song stayed in the charts for most of 2001, and became one of the very first songs 5-year-old Josh was obsessed with, which probably explains a lot about what kind of kid I was.

The band quickly looked to capitalise on the track's success, and the lead single off the follow up album, Two, was pushed hard by the label, and was even chosen as the opening song for the 78th Academy Awards, as well as being included in the closer for the 2004 Olympics.

Despite that marketing though, the second single couldn't quite mimic the success of the first, but it still did reasonably well for itself internationally, hitting number 13 on the UK Singles Chart. The US audience might have dropped off pretty rapidly, but the band wasn't totally wiped out overnight.

Since then, the band haven't really had the chance to give a proper comeback a ago. They broke up following the release Two, reformed and broke up again in 2013, and now have plans for more music with new members.

Yeah, they might have only had one more big single, but that's enough to disqualify them from being legitimate one-hit wonders.
